Meet Marti

State Representative Marti Deuter represents the Illinois 45th House District, beginning her first term in January 2025 as a full-time legislator focused on practical solutions for local families.
Marti draws on 11 years of local leadership on the Elmhurst City Council from 2013 through 2024, where she worked across the community to strengthen emergency services, public safety, local infrastructure, and financial stability.
Her background in public service includes eight years directing policy agendas for the City of Chicago Department of Housing, where she managed the creation of the Chicago Community Land Trust. She also advocated against predatory lending at the Woodstock Institute and later directed a grant-funded project at DePaul University’s Institute for Housing Studies that provided key data to researchers and policymakers working to preserve affordable rental options.
In the General Assembly, Marti approaches governing with a focus on balanced, common-sense results that deliver for her district. Her top legislative priorities center on growing the local economy, strengthening the workforce, and expanding housing options for working families.
To support economic opportunity across the district and county, Marti serves on the boards of both the Downers Grove Economic Development Corporation and the DuPage Convention & Visitors Bureau. Through these leadership roles, she advances regional efforts focused on business retention, job growth, and tourism promotion to help ensure our communities remain strong places to live and work.
Marti holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration and a bachelor’s degree in social work from Ohio University. She currently lives in Elmhurst with her husband, Dave, and their children.
